Technology: Nintendo Switch Console Breakdown

The Nintendo Switch has the capabilities to be played at home, and on the go. Nintendo has worked on this console for four years, ever since the Wii U came out.   

A major difference is a brand new controller. At first glance, the new controller looks like the Wii U’s Pro controller. As more of it is revealed, it is easy to spot the many differences. It looks somewhat rectangular with a D-pad, joystick, and the Nintendo Switch logo in the middle of it. It also has a grey finish to it. The side attachments can be taken off and put on the tablet included with the console.

Like the controller, the color scheme of the console is nearly identical. A green light in the bottom left indicates the remaining battery life. There is a tablet located in the middle of the console. If you add the side attachments of the controller, it becomes portable.

The Nintendo Switch is sure to be an interesting console, but will it have the potential to out do Nintendo’s older consoles?

Technology: Pokemon’s Twentieth Anniversary

There are three planned Pokemon games planned to release this year. These exhilarant games are named Detective Pikachu, which is going to be released February 3rd, in Japan, Pokken Tournament, which is going to be released around everywhere on March 18th, and finally in “early 2016”, Pokemon GO will be released around the world. Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo, was announced October 23rd, 2013, and was considered as a joke at that time. Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo, was announced October 23rd, 2013, and was considered as a joke at that time. Forgotten, nobody expected for it to be re-announced in January this year. Not much is known about this game so far but it seems that the Pikachu in this game can talk, the antagonist is a blue pikachu, and the main character named Tim Goodman, which just moved to Rhyme City. The gameplay mostly consists of trying to find evidence to solve mysteries.

Pokken Tournament, was announced July 16, 2015, but will be released on March 18th on the Wii U everywhere in the world. Consisting of around 16 main battlers, this game is full of other surprises too. This game does not only have 16 characters though, it also includes 20 support characters and even an additional 122 different pokemon that will watch your duels. There are two different modes you can fight in, one called Field Mode, where you can battle in a 3D environment, and the other is Duel Mode where you fight in a 2D turf, which is probably similar to Super Smash Bros, also released by Nintendo.

Pokemon GO, was announced September 10, 2015, but will be released “early 2016”.This free­to­play app is a real world type of game where you look for Pokemon in your own neighborhood. Not much else is known about this game but hopefully it will be released soon.

1980s-
FamiCom (Nintendo Entertainment System NES) ­ 1986

The NES was an 8­bit console, that saved the gaming industry. Without this device there would be no Playstation 4 or Xbox One. In Japan, the NES is called the FamiCom. Many popular games were released such as Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. Super Mario Bros made $40 million and Duck Hunt made $28 million. There was a problem in the system causing Nintendo to recall all the systems and losing $5 million.

1990s-
GameBoy ­ 1990

The revolutionary creation of the GameBoy developed the handheld gaming industry. This 8­bit console was crammed into a 90mm x 148mm x 32mm box with a screen with 512 pixels. Popular games released for this game include: Tetris(bestselling), Pokemon, Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, and 400+ more! About 118 million units were sold making this the third most successful console in the gaming industry.

SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) ­ 1992

The NES was improved greatly when released as the SNES. Not only did the graphic powers increase, but the sound and controller were refined largely. Older video game consoles had chiptune, which sounded pixelated and simple. SNES creators made the SNES run of SPC700 sound files. The controllers were even better though. Setting the standard for modern video game consoles, it had extra buttons and very smooth buttons. Some popular games include: Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, Star Fox, Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, F­Zero, and over 700 more.

Nintendo 64 (N64) ­ 1997

The spectacular 3D worlds wowed the whole world. Nobody had ever done such great graphics and nobody thought it could get better than this. It also came in 7 translucent colors including: blue, green red, and purple. Now the whole family can join the party. The calls of many gamers were heard and they created an analogue stick with full 360 degree control for every game. They added extra buttons totaling in 13 buttons and still made it comfortably fit in your hands. The diverse game choices included: Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Smash Bros, Paper Mario, Metroid Prime, and 250+ more

Game Boy Color ­ 1998

This small console contained lots of power. 32,000 colors could be burst out of this tiny box. The advance Game Boy Color could be bought in 6 different colors. Platformers and puzzles were introduced with this outstanding console. Some very popular games included: Megaman X, Tetris, Shantae, Dragon Warrior III, Pokemon Crystal, Wario Land 3, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Link’s Awakening, and 450+ more.

2000s­

GameBoy Advance ­ 2001

This updated version of the gameboy was so slim it could fit in your pocket. Even with such small dimensions it had a large screen that could play 32 bit games. They came in many different vibrant colors. The tiny Game Boy could also connect to the gamecube for maximum entertainment. Some timeless games include: Pokemon Emerald, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Zelda the Minish Cap, Final Fantasy V and VI, Super Mario Bros, Yoshi’s Island, and over 800 more.

Nintendo Gamecube ­ 2002

How do you describe the Nintendo Gamecube? It’s a small, desirable box that had great audio and visuals. CD quality music was rare in most consoles but Nintendo somehow crammed it inside of the small cube. A 3 inch wide disc fitted into the small Nintendo Gamecube and the disc could fit in 1.5 gigabyte, also known as, a lot of data. The controller also was also a great improvement. With an innovative button layout so buttons can be larger, it was easy to navigate in games. Some great games include Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda Twilight princess, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, Kirby Air Ride, and over 552 more.

Nintendo DS series ­ 2005­-2010

At the start of this series is the original Nintendo DS. It was a dual screened machine that folded up. The many features of this device included touch­screen, backwards compatibility (it was able to play gameboy advance games), and allowed you to communicate with friends. The new microphone port let you interact with games in a whole new way. Next in line is the DS lite. It was basically the same thing in a sleeker model and is brighter than the old one. After this improvement came the DSi. It came with a two cameras. That isn’t the only improvement. It came with a shop but that wasn’t very successful. It also came with a noticeable software improvement. The next and final update to this line of devices came the DSi XL. It came with a larger screen and even came with preinstalled software. Some great games include: New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon: Soulsilver, Heartgold, Platinum, Diamond, Pearl, Black and White 1 & 2, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and over 2000 more games to play.

Nintendo Wii ­ 2006

This memorable device had some revolutionary feature. A motion control and sensor bar made it a superlative device with an almost infinite amount of games.It came with many different remotes. Many different colors for controllers were released and it was the highest selling product that Nintendo created. Some of the timeless games included: Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and well over 1500 other great games.

Nintendo 3DS/2DS ­ 2011­-2015

Nintendo Wii U ­ 2012

The new update to the Wii features many novel improvements, including a handheld gamepad that made remake games interesting and a whole new experience. The second screen on the gamepad can allow you to check your inventory in Zelda remakes and can be used to enhance minigames in Mario Party. Some iconic Wii U games include: Mario Kart 8, Zelda: Hyrule Warriors, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicles: X, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros Wii U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Zelda: Windwaker HD, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, New Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario World, and much much more.

Nintendo is now working on there newest home console now: Codename NX This probably will not be the real name since the gamecube was called codename: dolphin.
